Our Wines
We have a simple belief that the land is the most important factor to producing an expressive wine. We treat it with kid gloves. We dry farm allowing the vines to send their roots deep for water, extracting intense flavors from our Laurelwood soil and underlying volcanic Jory soil. We use organic farming practices to keep nature in balance closer to the surface. Means more work for us. But we think it shows in the quality of the wine.

2023
Sparkling Brut Cuvée
Our sparkling brut cuvée was crafted with intention—to deliver estate-grown méthode Champenoise bubbles. From vineyard to bottle, every stage happens here on our property: harvesting our estate grapes followed by tirage bottling at 9 months. The bubbles sit for an additional 26 months in our cellar, before being riddled and disgorged with our own equipment.
2023
Sparkling Brut Rosé
Grown from estate fruit this is our first true Brut Rosé done in the traditional Methode Champenoise way. Bright, mouthwatering, and endlessly refreshing, this is the kind of sparkling wine that quietly disappears from the bottle faster than expected.

Estate Block 2 Pinot Gris Reserve
Most have been surprised by this Pinot Gris treated like a Chardonnay. Aging it in special cigar-shaped barrels for greater lees contact will do that.
A fresh and vibrant palate balances zesty key lime and lemon peel with creamy notes of brioche and white chocolate.

2023
Touch of Gold Chardonnay
Lovingly named our horse, Touch. This wine was fermented using both reductive as well as oxidative techniques. It was aged 10 months in new French oak and an additional 6 months in tank to achieve a unique balance of acididty and texture.
Aromas of lemon peel, yuzu, Marcona almonds, citrus blossoms and fresh pastry. Medium-bodied with citrus acidity, a nice mineral texture and a long, refreshing finish. Cleansing and thirst-quenching. It can age, but is delicious now.–93 Pts James Suckling

Estate Pinot Noir
The warm and very dry growing season led to wines of intensity. In barrel for 11 months comprised of 15% new French oak. Dark red fruit and earthy / spicy notes abound. This wine has aged beautifully and has truly come into its own.

Estate Pinot Noir
A blend of our 5 estate Pinot Clones. In barrel for 10 months comprised of 56% new French oak. Dark red (and blue) fruit with earth and spice notes. A faithful representation of our property.
A fuller-bodied pinot for a 2019 with ripe and juicy fruit in the center palate, enveloped with blue fruit and hibiscus flowers. Chewy and tannic at the end. It will age nicely” — 94 pts James Suckling

This selection comprises the 5 best barrels of the 2021 vintage aged 60% new French Oak for 10 months.
The 2021 vintage produced dense wines in the red to black fruit spectrum with an earthiness enhanced by the savory characteristics of our Laurelwood soil. This wine will only get better in time.

Made from the 5 types of Pinot Noir on the Benza state and 100% destemmed into our best barrels on 45% new French oak for 16 months.
A dense and brooding wine in the red to black fruit spectrum with an earthiness enhanced by the savory characteristics of our Laurelwood soil.
“Stored in 45% new French oak, this opens with aromatics of wild blackberry and black cherry notes alongside shades of salty soils and baking spices. Symphony Pinot Noir
This wine encompasses the high, mid and bass tones of the various Pinot Noir clones of the Benza Estate in a harmonius…what else…symphony.
“Each act of this Symphony is a winner. The wine’s opening act aromas of blackberries, violets and rosemary are a wonderful perfume. After a brief intermission spent just smelling this wine, its flavors of blackberries, orange pekoe tea and bittersweet dark chocolate reached a crescendo. There is a perfect balance here between modest alcohol, cymbal-crashing acidity and tannins as velvety as theater curtains. Le Soir…The Evening.
A Pinot Noir made in the old-world way of making the Benza terroir the star with its earthy mushroom and Laurelwood spice, allowing the dark rich Benza fruit to play a supporting role.

Syrah
Sourced from the Rocks District of Milton Freewater which is just what it sounds like…vast fields of basalt cobbles that not only make the grapes struggle but imparts unique flavors.
Do you enjoy Syrah? Then you need to track down this Oregon Syrah before it disappears. The wine makes your acquaintance with a blackberry pie aroma that is wrapped up in an earthy note mixed with a saline-powered oceanic note that will have you hankering for squid ink risotto. To make those hunger pangs even more acute, there’s a tiny pork fat note to accompany dark fruit flavors like black currants and black cherries.
